We had a great first show back at Taix. It was so much fun. It was also our first show with Chuck Sparks. Who I hope will continue to play drums for us when we need him. He's great!

We joined in a benefit for Haiti last Saturday.

It was good fun! Except for when I had to leave to go house hunting. . . . But that worked out because we're making an offer! woohoo. Whatever house I get, I'm doing my damnedest to make sure there will be some sort of room for band practice!

now it's getting into decorative-coat-wearing-weather (at least for the nonce) we here at the 5-Cave are very excited bordering on (our lady of) perpetual agitation ... tastes and repertory not limited exclusively to coats-that-could-be-said-to-somewhat-resemble-furniture but also including technicolor dream-garments and the ugliest shirt in the world. if not the galaxy (I wouldn't venture to speak beyond the galaxy, well, I might venture to speak, but, I mean, when I was there I didn't see any)

so anyway what I mean to say is, thanks everyone who said they liked my coat wednesday night, it meant a lot, that coat has a bit of an inferiority complex (was given to me by a four-fingered bass player in a state of tempestuous denial) and needs all the love it can get

Every Wednesday in October at 11pm, CRICKET AND THE 2:19 will be rocking the 321 Lounge at TAIX French Restaurant. CRICKET AND THE 2:19 are a Folk-Rock group based out of Echo Park. Their danceable and even psychedelic grooves have set themselves apart from other “indie” bands. Cricket, with her 5’3, petite, blonde frame, giggling and bouncing innocently across the stage singing about wine, pills and firearm violence gives them a unique and quirky edge.

TAIX is a French restaurant with a great mixture of old timers and a hip young crowd. It’s a place where you can wine and dine in an Old World atmosphere. The 321 Lounge has an old-timey feel and the music is always great. The people are great. The service is great. And with CRICKET AND THE 2:19 in the house, your listening satisfaction is guaranteed. Well, we got a residency at TAIX. Which is an awesome french restaurant with an even better Bar/lounge. -Very old timey. We're playing there every Wednesday this month at 11pm. But the first show almost didn't happen.

I woke up on Wednesday morning with NO voice! I'm talking not even a squeak. So I promptly got a steroid shot in the butt, a breathing treatment and then had 5 and Zinnia do their voodoo on me.

My voice wasn't totally there by 11pm when our set started. But it was such a fun show.

And convinced me even more that I have the best, most supportive, incredibly skilled musicians in my band.

I couldn't be luckier!

P.S.

I have a little bruise on my bum today.

But it's okay. It gives my bum some extra character! :)

Was such a blast! Thanks Arlo and Gus for booking and sound. Those dudes are great. The food was yum, the sound was loud and it appears they have Soda pop whiskey! Ha ha. It was a great night. Amanda Jo Williams was her quirky adorable self. And Rough Church was awesome! 5 played with all three of us if you can believe it. He is in high demand! And we are so lucky to have him! Special thanks to Scott Keil for once again, saving our ass on the drums.
All around it was a fun, fun night.

This show was really great. I lost my voice last night and was worried all day about the show. But I didn't talk all day, which is a big deal to me. Then I drank a lot of tea and shit. And It turned out really okay. Of course as usual, 5 and Simon made the night. I pinch myself every time I play with them. I feel so blessed and so happy to get to play with them. And I'm so grateful for what they bring to my songs. . . It's priceless.
But enough of the gush.
Zinnia worked her magic on my throat. She has this crazy healer energy. Trust. She made me barf once. That's how powerful she is! :) Maybe the whole night is owed to her.
I had a lot of fun. And I really needed some fun tonight.
I smoked a bowl.
And Mark is making pizza.
I am so ready!

I wrote three new songs this past week or so. They come in spurts you know?

Anyway the first is called, "Dime On The Radio". It's about a combination of things. And really up for your own interpretation.

The second is, "I Love You When You're Sleeping". When I was little my mother used to tell me that. Because all day long I never stopped talking. Ha ha! But as I get older I see things from a different point of view. We all have people in our lives who we love but, they can drive us crazy! So that's why the song is called, "I Love You When You're Sleeping".

The third song is, um, well it doesn't have a name yet actually. Ok, let me think. I'm gonna call it . . . . "Picture Frame". It's a neat song. Kind of self deprecating. But it has a cool rhythm to it.

I can't wait to show you guys the new stuff!

I'm sure we'll be working it into our set real soon.
